What a wonderful lens through which to view the world! I shall add this to my other favorite lens, adventure! Adventure can be small or large, it's all in the perception. But it really should be done with beauty. Thank you for a great read!

This is not only an incredibly beautiful way of looking at the world but more importantly, a practical mindset shift for a more enriching life. Your pieces always make me dearly miss Italy. My Roman sojourn were happiest days I’ve known. To your point, they were happy because of was conscious of my life as art as I wondered through three millennia of history and culture.

This article hit me right where it needed to. Thank you.

I need to see my life, and the world through the lens of what I wish to create and bring into it.

There are so many great quotes to keep handy!

Right now I’m inspired to endure through this soggy late winter in northern France, and to persevere with a smile knowing that Spring is just around the corner. I can’t change the weather, but I can still curate my surroundings, relationships, and thoughts.

Glad you enjoyed it, Sean. What are the odds you're braving out winter in the Ch'ti nord? A region that's quite dear to me

It must attract the most culturally refined, I guess ;)

We moved here from LA 2+ years ago with a dream of buying a chateau to raise our kids in. We finally realized the dream and purchased our forever home three months ago. I’m learning to be a little less head strong and to find a balance as I follow the rhythms of the season. There’s so much to get done, but all in good time. Sometimes the best thing to do is stare out the rain dappled window with an espresso and dream. With man character energy 🎥

I agree that the things we surround ourselves with don't just express who we are, they shape us. The chosen examples, however, lean too far toward style and not enough toward the form of life. Fountain pens and leather-bound journals are no guarantee of profound insights. On the contrary, a pencil and a napkin might actually be more likely to invite original thinking.

This is a great reminder that we are at the mercy of our fortitude. Will we be engaged with the truth, goodness, and beauty surrounding us or with our inner turmoil? I rarely leave my abode nowadays and when I do, I find myself disoriented because the noise, the clamor, and the hyperactivity around me can be so debilitating. But I remember the arduous hike I recently took one night up a hill to see the stars. I saw Jupiter and Uranus and it was humbling. I see how finite, how miniscule our lives are yet so significant to those in our orbit. I see my troubles as temporary in their lifespan. To embody an artful life is to leave a lasting impression, knowing that we will not be here much longer and will only see beauty, truth, and goodness for a moment until it's gone.

Beautiful. I agree completely! And in fact, I write about this in one of my posts on Biodanza - a free dance method for increased wellbeing, founded by the Chilean anthropologist Rolando Toro. In vivencia III creativity: “We need to place our creativity at the service of life!” - to live our lives as art!
