This one line at the end was my favorite, “Therefore, growth as a Christian in the Middle Ages was seen more as a combat against the distortion of the will than a combat against the flesh.”

Point 4. In the sacred valley, in and around Cusco, you can visit churches that were pre-conquest temples. They put a crucifix and alter up front and replaced the pagan gods and goddesses in the little wall alcoves with equivalent patron saints.

I bought Old World on Steam last year but still haven't gotten around to playing it.

However, the reviews rate it as a top game.

Sorry, but yes, we are able and should judge both the genocide of indigenous peoples and colonialism. 🫠

I loved this article! How refreshing to learn updated history. It is necessary that with more knowledge and discovery of the past that we update the historical records accordingly. 🥰

I wonder if there is any new knowledge regarding this subject from the point of view of the native peoples of the New World. (Not to doubt or condescend the extensive knowledge, just curious.)

I recommend you read “Open Veins of Latin America” by Eduardo Galeano.

For all sins of the Inquisition, they pale in contrast to priesthood of Huitzlipochtli.

And, TBH, there were people who thought of indigenous rights just from the start, like Bartolomeo de las Casas, they just framed it differently, as rights of Gods children.
